Kids Soccer Drills: Want To Know What Not To Do
In kids soccer drills, it’s a known fact that the coach’s faults bring the teams to a point, from where it’s near impossible to get back on to the winning track. Yes, that’s correct. A good number of you might be wondering what on earth could be so big to get the team on a losing track. Okay then, let it be known that reasons are countless.
To take steps pertaining to soccer drills for kids, be very alert and calculative. Make it a point to know and value psychology of the kids. Communicate with them in a way that suits their age level. But sadly, most coaches are not ready to adapt to this. They simply close their eyes to the dissimilarity between teaching adult players and kids.
So there you have it; top faults of coaches that bring the teams to a point, from where it’s near impossible to get back on to the winning track.
1. A lot of them consider their jobs as casual work. They don’t consider in necessary to be prompt in reaching the ground, set up the drills, or systematize practice sessions. Such behavior is bad and also has the potential to sadden the kids. You cannot be non-serious when the kids take soccer so seriously. Put together the youth soccer drills ahead of time. Put together all kinds of equipments which you would need to accomplish the drills.
Don’t be late. Make it a point to reach the field earlier than the kids. In reality, be present there to welcome the kids. This will also give you some time to rehearse the drills or arrange for things.
2. When the coaches deliver the instructions before the kids soccer drills, they tend to take a lot of time. Have you ever imagined how torturous that can be! Understand that kids come to play soccer, not to hear your long lectures. Always speak for less amount of time. Use these sessions in a way that the kids get inspired to play and enjoy the game.
It is also important not to disturb them in between the sessions. If there is something that you need to tell the kids, wait for the session to end. Also, observe the kids from outside when they are playing.
3. Some coaches get ruthless and unkind while dealing with the kids. In soccer drills for youth, both the traits are self-destructive. It may prove counter productive to show your emotions on the field. It is natural for the kids to make errors on the field. Never forget that they are very young. You do not need to take this to heart and get harsh with the players.
If this happens, you can drive the kids away from the game. Soccer is about mind games. Make the kids realize this and you would have motivated them.
Stay away from these issues in kids soccer drills. If you are looking for tips on how coaches should handle the kids, subscribe to our youth soccer coaching community. This will dramatically improve your knowledge and skills.
